Default Rear sunroof stuck open.

Hi. So my rear sunroof is stuck in the open pisition. Partly my fault i think. It wouldnt close so i tried to push it. I can hear the motor clicking. It runs the correct duration of time that it would if actually closing. Could it be off track or something? How do i fix it. I took out the front motor and cleaned it. That didnt make a difference. Is there one in the back? I have a 2000 disco 2

Yes, there is a motor in rear unit, same as the front. There is a black screw holding the plastic trim to the roof (behind the dome light I think or maybe the sunroof switch). Remove that and the trim around the sunroof, and you can pull the headliner down enough to get to the motor. Remove, inspect, and decide how to proceed.

Pop out the little square tab in the plastic pen under the motor - insert a allen wrench the appropriate size in the hole and turn. If it does not turn the motor is seized and you will need a new one. If it does but still won't close, broken cable - but that never happens. 99% sure it is a bad motor - very common.

thank you. Ill also try the allen wrench. Actually ill try that first. Sounds easier. Hopefully that will do it. Then ill still take a look at the motor. Would the motor make the noise if it was bad?

Well..it started raining. I went out to my disco 2 with flash light and allen wrenches. I took off the button and could see where to put the allen wrench. I pushed the electronical button to watch it spin and to know which way to turn it. I had to play a bit with the glass but f o nally the allen wrench worked. Good. No rain in my car tonight. Thank you very much. So i think somehow it must be off track because the motor is whirling. So how woll i fix that

Pop out the other little square tab in the same location, remove the screw under it, then pull off the trim strip around the sunroof opening in the headliner. Once you do this you can pull the headliner down enough to get a ratchet with T25 torx bit in there and remove the sunroof motor. Your problem is the plastic gear that connect the motor to the sunroof is stripped, you need a different motor. Check ebay or your local wrecking yard.
