I have one of these. It's good stuff.

This would be safer...it wouldn't take much for a strap to slip off that hook.

Those Jeep hooks are deadly.

Also, there are two, very solid round holes in on the bottom of the brush bar. Do you think the brush bar's mounting is substantial enough to use these as recovery points? Perhaps a couple of d-ring shackles when off-road? The holes are in the 1/4+ inch steel framing of the brush bar, with plenty of width between them and the outside edge.

I use a trailer hitch insert for the rear.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Dave
You don't want to remove the front cross member, this will cause too much flex in your frame, especially if you have a winch and use it.

Is this better or the jate ring in rear?

IDK. My assumption would be that a JATE ring would be better yet, but the hook is definitely not good.

60 dollars though.....wow....thats Warn for you....lol

I have never had any safety issues with that roadless gear hook. Used it twice. Ford F250 powerstroke pulled my YJ out with it. Long as you know what your doing its safe.

It can be found cheaper...that was just the easiest link for me to grab.

...As for knowing what you're doing, you might, and I might be getting there, but does LundRover sound like he knows what he's doing?

I don't want to hear about anyone getting killed off using something they heard about from us...the shackle isn't cheap, but it is definitely safer...

Nah your link was good. I was just knocking Warn. I love their products (except their ATV winches - those are a POS), but they are so over priced...in most cases only because it says "Warn" on it. lol

The rear receiver mount is good, but make sure you get a solid one, not one that is hollow. Add a D-Shackle rated for 3 1/2 tons or more and you should be in good shape. IMHO

AxeAngel on this forum has some great solid ones that he has been selling, but I do not see a thread on here, but here is on from LRO forum.
