Default RE: SERVICE QUESTION?

How can I tell if my 01 has the CDL nip without reaching under there? I tried feeling around and couldn't tell what I was doing even after consulting RAVE and a pic someone posted on here for me. Is the cut-off exactly mid year? (as in June and up, no CDL) and can I find that on the door sticker or other such place? And not being mechanically inclined myself, is this something that a local mechanic can do or the LR dealer (last resort)?

EDIT: I looked on the door and it says 03/01 so i am assuming that it is considered early year. If this is the case how OEM does the $100 plus labor parts look? Is it the shifter with the option to go lock or is it a jerry rigged option?

Default RE: SERVICE QUESTION?

I am not sure of the cutoff time. Mike should know.

I was just talking about getting the linkage from e-bay or a salvage from a D1. dweb has a write up for a solenoid actuated shifter that is controlled by a factory fog lamp switch mounted on the binnacle. The solenoid is a little more trick than the linkage, I think Mike did his this way and really likes it. The D1 linkage looks just like the 04's. Totally stock. I was a little off on price, they are $150... http://www.roverlandparts.com/1994-1...seshifter.aspx

You can spend under $20 if you are handy and make a lever outside the truck, but it is like having locking hubs on an old 4X4. You have to stop, get out and lock it.
