Share: ABS solved bad slow speed activation
So technically now that I think about it... -- before LR recalled the SLABS boxes (ECUs or ABS and traction control) for the early trucks, 99/00/01 or so. They had a weird thing where ABS would kick in unnecessarily. The ECU’s were all recalled. So you’re not totally wrong haha.
The net effect was the same thing that happened on D1’s but it was a different cause... They replaced the ECU’s and cleaned the speed sensors I think. Or didn’t even clean the speed sensors, just replaced the SLABS ECU in the pass front wheel well.
The recall for the SLABS (Suspension and Braking Control System) ECU on Discovery Series II vehicles, specifically identified as A/B/D 263, addresses the issue of inappropriate ABS activation. This fault occurs when metallic debris from the wheel hub bearing attaches to the wheel speed sensor, causing the ECU to misinterpret signals and potentially leading to increased braking distance. The recall was issued in 2002 and covers vehicles within a specific VIN range.
