Shutdown! Help!
Hello Everyone, Hope Everyone is having a great Day. I Was Driving My Disco,Today When all of the sudden I Passed thru some railroad tracks, and My Truck shutdown all of the sudden,I was able to pull over to the a Bussiness,Opened my hood and made sure everything was alright and it was water temp was normal, Truck had oil, Everything its just that when i go to start it everything turns on (Lights) Just the truck wont. Perhaps it could be a sensor that went off? Thanks So Much For your Help!!!
More than likely is the inertia switch that is supposed to shut off the engine in case of accident. Since you mention the rail road, that bump may have triggered it. It is in the engine bay, fire wall, passenger side. Re-set it and it should start right up.
Next thing to check would be the Crankshaft positioning sensor. If the truck shuts off when it gets warm, then will start up once it's cooled off, that would be it.
It is a PITA to replace, so hopefully it's the inertia switch.
Let us know what you come up with.

So if it was the inetia switch - had you been in an accident it would have killed fuel pump, to reduce fire hazard, and unlocked all the doors if you had them locked. Hopefully this is the most you will test this feature.
