Default Slipped Sleeve Syndrome - I think!

I own a Disco II V8 2002 & in the mornings when I start the cold motor there is a "knock" in the motor - not a tap but when the motor warms up to running temp the knock goes away. I was told this is a loose piston sleeve & it's pretty much a full strip down of the motor which financially probably won't be possible....I've noticed this noise for a while now & the car has been used still ok. Is this a problem that can be left without any concerns? Or, is there another solution to my problem?

It is not usually the slipped sleeve, that is quiet at start and comes on when warmed up and sleeve begins to move around. More likely just worn internal parts, like bearings; and/or low oil pressure. In our tech area is a review of oil and filter that could help. Bearings could also be replaced while engine is in the truck.

That knock is destroying your engine the longer you avoid having it checked.
