Default Tire size

I have 16x8 rims and want to put 215/85/16 tires on them. Will this work?

This is for a non lifted 2004 D2.

Thanks.

IMO that's pretty skinny for an 8" wide wheel, even 235 is a bit narrow. You should be fine for road driving though(if it fits)

What's the reason for such a narrow tire?

Overall, I like the look. Was also told that gas mileage is better and that Off raid performance would not suffer.

265/75R16 will just squeak under there without a lift, but will rub at full lock. I'd think 215/85R16 will be VERY narrow. 245/75R16 is probably be your best bet.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I still want NARROW! Im going to see if I can get a used tire and mount it to see what happens. I will update with photos once I get the misfires sorted and the major oil leak fixed.

I have always been told that gas mileage suffers with taller and/or heavier tires. 215/85 is certainly much taller and heavier than the stock size.

And, as stated above, 215 is very narrow for an 8" rim.

I went with 245/70r16, and they are about the same size as stock while a bit narrower. You should be able to get a 235/75r16 on the rim, but I don't think they make them.

Trying a used tire the smart way to go if you have to try it.

They will work if you can get the beads to seal when you're mounting them. They will be more susceptible to sidewall damage when offroading. I would really go with something wider, at least 235's

Don't mind me if I get in on this
I as well have the 16" wheels and just put an ome 2" lift on it
What's the biggest tire I could go with with these wheels
