I'm running 235/85r16's which have about the same diameter. I had no problems in the week or so I was driving around without the lift. Not sure if the additional width of your tires would be a problem though.

Sadly my disco project has the 18s. I would love 16s but I don't want to spend the money to make the swap with all the other stuff I'm buying.

If you're doing much off roading, it's worth the difference to atleast buy a set of 16" steelies. If it's simply not in the budget then I understand, but if I were in your shoes I would try to stretch it if at all possible.

I'd prefer not to go steelies, because I hate how they look. I came across some for 220 shipped, is that an okay price for used OEM 16"? I personally hate this popular look of big rims on off road cars. So if had hadn't already dropped a lot on a new engine, and a lift, and pads and rotors, and all sorts of other odds and ends, then I would be doing this no problem.

I wont do hard core off-roading in this (rock crawling), but I would like it to get me anywhere I wanna go. I have a ford raptor that I take out when I need to scratch my off road itch.

Anybody have a good recommendation for the largest tire size one could put on the stock 18in rims without lifting the thing? Thanks!

How much room do you have? Have you measured the distance from the center of the hub to the wheel arch?

This will tell you if your stock suspension is sagging or not, which will tell you how much tire you can get without fixing your suspension, which will continue to sag more and more at your mileage.

About how much space should I have on a stock setup? (roughly) I'll run out and measure as soon as I can get out of the office.
