trailer wiring for 7 pin
I know some are going to say snip it off and go with the 4 pin, but I want a little more warning for those following me than 2 lights that do brake, tail, and turn. I picked up the 7 pin kit and am trying to figure out the extra three wires. Blue, Red, and Orange. The Red goes to the brake pin, the Blue goes to the Earth/ground, and the orange is for the rear fog light. Right now, with my trailer all wired up, hitting the brakes is illuminating the amber turn signals as if the truck was still wired up the US spec way.
So, I am thinking I need a different controller to figure out how to get the brakes seperate from the turn signals?

So you wired in a 7pin plug, connected your trailer, and it's affecting the lighting on the truck or its lighting up the amber turn signals on the trailer?
Do you have some pics of what you have and what you’ve done? Is the 7 pin the OEM (British) one, or a typical US Spec plug?
If it’s the Land Rover one, it should be fully plug and play with a controller box that goes up by the right rear tail light. Then to get it to a standard flat 4, there is an adapter harness.
If you are trying to wiring up a US Spec 7 pin to include a brake controller, you can wire it however you like, but you just need to make certain you match up what your trailer harness thinks the pin out should be. That is, you can use your running, right, left, brake, ground, and hot wires as you see fit, and then you’ll have an additional wire coming from the controller to activate the trailer brakes.
