Buckeye....
I've got it all fixed and running again a few days after it happened.

What happened was that the power steering pump failed. When that happened it caused the serpentine belt to jump off of the pulley's. When that happened the water pump was no longer engaged and it overheated. When it overheated the piece of sh*t expansion tank seal (between the tank and cap) failed causing coolant to spray out everywhere and coolant got onto the battery (under the battery cover). The serpentine belt was about 4 months old, I replaced it when I installed a new water pump back in March 2016.

Ordered a new expansion tank, cap, power steering pump, and serpentine belt, and bought new coolant.

Disco's....The gift that keeps giving.

Just to confuse the situation is it raining where you are? I had this when I pressure washed the underside of my 04 and got a little water in the XYZ switch. Until it dried out I had that intermittently and would have to restart to make it go away, only lasted for a week or so.

How about a thanks for update?

Belts have been known to "come off" rather than cause alarming noises.

No...I didn't hear the belt come off. What got my attention was that the A/C stopped blowing cold air...that's when I looked at the temp gauge and saw it rising. The temp needle never got all the way to the top. I got off the freeway immediately and turned the truck off. Heads are fine. Like I said...it's all fixed and running fine...no coolant leaks. HG was replaced in Dec 2011.
