Default Vacuum line / brake master cylinder.

I found what looks like a cut vacuum linee protruding from under my brake master cylinder. Is this a means of releasing pressure or is this a vacuum line that has been disconnected? Any and all responses are appreciated. 2003 Discovery secondary air injection.

Hi norseman. We get this question every few weeks from new members.

That is one of three vent lines along the firewall - one each from the transmission, front axle housing and transfer case. They serve to keep air pressure inside those assemblies equalized with ambient atmospheric pressure. They are not vacuum lines. There's one somewhere in the back too for the rear axle housing.
