Default Water pump type?

Hey everyone...

I am going to be replacing my timing cover gasket on my '02 D2, and was advised to replace my water pump as well. Atlantic British has a generic brand and an OE type pump. Does anyone have any experience with the generic version, or is it best to stick with the OE? Thanks

I run both on my truck and have had no problems, I have been running it for two years & approx. 30k.

If your that far; depending on your milege you may want to do the timing chain and oil pump, your already there.

It would be a shame to have to drop the oil pan and rip the front of the engine apart in a couple of months for something you could replace while its was open.

Buy the water pump by Airtex with the brass impellor, great pump and warranty.

D1 pump on left, D2 pump on right, they are identical except for the stop leaks build up. Note impeller. An after market pump with a larger bronze impeller would be a plus. Also, while it is under the wrench, consider a 180 soft spring thermostat.
