I don't hate mine, I hate taking it to shops. I love when I fix the problem. I also love her, she is a great vehicle and has been more fun than painful. I also have two other vehicles, if I didn't, maybe I'd hate her.

My wife loves hers... I hated it at first, but I've fallen in love with the D2's. We have 2 of them, and they are our daily drivers. Her sis has a LR3, her mom has a Freelander. I'd say we like them.

Love them both as I have two and I've done much much work as many have to keep them reliable. Hands down they are not the truck for everyone. I could not afford to have these in the shop for all the work they've required. On the flip side for those who are mechanically inclide, they are a very simple machine to work on with standard/metric tools and a great forum and group of ethusiast like you and me.

You also gotta take into account the capabilities of the Disco and these abilities come with a cost. I work in aviation and you don't fly a 30m$ aircraft with no initiative for preventative maintenance and Maint in general. These are old vehicles mine going on 9 and 10 years old and they need maintenance like any other vehicle or aging machine.

I love mine. You just have to have more than one so you always have one to drive when one is waiting to be fixed...

(I have 4 counting parts trucks.)

I like my Discovery I.
It has 166K on it now.
Had head gaskets done at 133K.
Power steering pump, alternator, batteries, tires (4 sets by now)
Waterpump - only once..
Keeps going.

I like it - yes. When It is not costing me money and just keeps going.

Discovery I - no engine compartment whine.

Discovery II - do I like it?
Has good steering.
Feels like it is glued to the road. Not bobbing around like a Discovery I.
I hate the engine compartment whine.
I hate that the D2 takes premium gas.
I like the seat heaters that work.
I like the digital heating controls.
I don't like that it can get the 3 Amigos.
