Picked up my heads from the machine shop. Wow, they are clean. I set them in place and threaded the ARP studs in. Still need to install the oil pan and all the other items that need to be put back on when doing head gaskets. I hope to get it together this weekend, 4 weeks and $1K from tear down.

hey guys my service light came on my 03 disco and i have a couple codes that i was hoping to get some advice on, one is for my 02 sensor code P0134 no activity detected on bank 1 sensor 1 so i am going to check the wiring then maybe replace, do you know if that is the passenger side closest to the exhaust manifold? The other code is a p0327 knock sensor 1 circuit low bank 1 or single sensor. i have no idea where that is, i herd that they can get clogged and can be cleaned any ideas are much appreciated. thanks

03discotrayer ,

your knock sensors are in the middle of the block down low by the motor mounts

Hey guys just got a used compressor from Paul Grant. I have question about what to do after install. I can tell the compressor has leaked oil from shipping but when I get it installed does simply not using the AC guarantee that the compressor will not be on internally until I get to an AC shop to refill it?

If I leave the the multiplug on the compressor disconnected will that allow the bearing to spin freely while leaving the internals off?

Also I replaced my AC drier only a few months ago. I'm going to have to drain the AC to install the compressor. Will I really have to replace the drier again as well or is it new enough to get by with it?

I would replace it, it may be newer but you don't know how much junk is in it or how much your used compressor has in it

leave the compressor unplugged until you have the system serviced, "i" would not change the filter/drier again unless the system has been open to the air for any length of time.

Well I havent installed the new compressor yet so I'm going to have to drain the system myself. I take it there would be no saving the ac drier once I start taking the hoses off?

One more question for you guys today. My new airtex water pump is going to arrive today. Can I use RTV on this or does the gasket need to be dry? If I can use RTV, do I use it on the pump side/front cover/or both? Really looking forward to getting the looming worry off my back about the cooling system. Once I do the pump and radiator I should be set for a good while. Knock on wood.

Thanks

Default First year complete

So it's has now been one year since I purchased my first disco. I have learned over the year just how quirky these things can be but also knowing just as long as you take the time to properly service the truck, it will take care of you.

i would use a thin layer on each side of the gasket the same as if i were using gasket cement.

dont worry about the drier, really the vacuum will remove the moisture.
