Default New here...

Just bought a 03 Discovery last week.

So far...

Replaced pads and rotors (frt. and rear).
Had brake backing-plates and shock towers sandblasted and powder-coated.
Master cylinder, change fluid.
Coolant reservoir, change fluid.
Shocks (frt. and rear).
Drag link (complete).
Tracking Tie-rod bar (complete).
Steering stabilizer shock.
Oil change and filter.
Got plates and insurance.
Cleaned the engine a bit (is there anything on these things that don't leak...lol).

Looking forward to getting it on the hoist at work (mechanic) and steam cleaning the entire bottom side this week.

And looking forward to meeting some more Land Rover owners and possibly doing an outing.

Brian.

Nope, kids too...but they're all grown and on their own journey through life.

Been a mechanic for 39 years, so the mechanical stuff is just nuts and bolts to me.

Default Disco 2 164000miles

She broke down today. M And S are flashing and she's only in 3rd gear.
A Local shop charged me 2800 dollars to fix the broken transfer case and front drive shaft. Found out today that the drive shaft was Jerry rigged from a wrecked Range rover and the transfer case was just J.B. Wielded around the cracks. I Love my discovery will all my heart and now I'm fighting with a major repair company for they're ****ty work and straight up bait and switch. I was charged for brand new parts and got fleeced. I'm Near tears. That's what I've done today. with some prayers my lawyer will get my Disco Back on the road because she deserves it.

That really sucks. Are they going to be able to preserve the paint? (i'm assuming it's a "real trek"? )

Got the Discovery on the hoist today and steam cleaned the bottom side, and re-adhesived a couple stickers under the hood.

Tomorrow, hoping to align the front end some, steering wheel is off and I haven't taken any measurements yet. Plus, change both axles fluids and maybe trans fluid.

Brian.

That was " thatguy63" that had all the mechanical mishaps, not me. Mine runs like a clock ( knock on wood).

Yes, it is a real TreK, #2. 80K orig miles. The paint is finel the decal on the hood has had it though. Hunting for a replacement decal..

After replacing brake lights I attempted to replace top coolant reservoir hose.
Sadly I broke off that little tube sticking out of the radiator. Feeling shocked and helpless. I'm now making toast. Will address this tomorrow.
