Seriously, I think I would hate a black headliner in my Rover. I can't believe it's been over three years since I did mine. I was looking at it again just yesterday and thinking how glad I am that I painted mine, and the color is just right. And is is nice and bright inside.
I got a super dark charcoal. It isn't quite black, but so far I really love it. It was really easy to paint up with the help of my wife. We actually saw your post AFTER we bought the paint this morning, and I was debating whether I wanted to go back and get the color you had, but in the end, it didnt bug me that much.

AZ is a great spot for cars and keeping stuff looking really nice, unless it sits out in the sun of course, but the dry heat is amazing for preservation. Out here in Hawaii (where my D2 has been since 2005, originally coming from San Diego) there is a lot of salt and moisture in the air, so it tears through everything. The place that a lot of people seemed to like for doing headliners out here gave me a quote of about 300 dollars before they even added in the style of fabric I would have picked out, which could have put the price all the way up to 400. So for 40 bucks and about 4 hours worth of work, I decided to to it myself.

Anyways, here is what it looks like just a few minutes after we finished painting it up. Hopefully it dries in just a few hours (you can already see dry spots), and if the weather cooperates, I can get this back in before sun set.

Installed my 2in ome medium duty lift yesterday and changed ps fluid on my 99, so I drove it back to school since spring break is over. Was a smooth 100 mile trip, until I pulled up to my apartment and heard my alternator squalling like crazy. Of course I left my socket set in the carport back home. Looks like I'll be renting some tools if I can find a part store with an alternator here.

Swapped in a new front drive shaft from Lucky8. Only $236 shipped. Similar to OEM but with greaseable u-joints and splines.

The one I pulled out was original. U-joints were intact but very loose after 135K miles.

One less potential "catastrophic failure" to worry about in my new to me LR!

Well, after nearly 2 weeks of having to look at my brand new Discovery AT/3's in the garage while we entertained visiting family, I finally got to the DIY shop to mount and balance them. While I was there I did a quick oil change and then swapped my old Red Top Optima for a new Yellow Top. We had 3 inches of snow today so I found a nice snowy log trail on the way home and did a little wheeling. So far I love the ATs. Not only did they perform well so far, they look tuff too!

The Rover Gods needed an offering today, they were not happy.
The plastic bleeder screw cracked yesterday... got a replacement BMW one (Advance auto part# 902-404) and installed today; tightened the screw hose clamps... perhaps a little too much, any how, on the test drive the T blew apart... (one nipple cracked and broke off half way down) pulled over asap. Before I knew it Johnny Highboot was there to offer assistance; I reassured the officer I had plenty of antifreeze and tools "I drive a land rover - you have to have these things".

There was just enough of the T left where it blew for me to snug the clamp down and limp home. Tail very much between my legs.

Anyhoo.... Randy at RoverBones has a used one for me in the morning. Good thing having a Rover breakers yard 7 miles from my house; bad thing having to visit so often.
