I thought that too but they were on the outside with the Forteras so they just redid it that way

After my company Christmas Party I picked up Mater & finally got it home. I’ll dive into the water pump stuff on Sunday. Just glad to finally get it home! 2.5hr drive & zero issues.

Had a bit of spare time today and the weather is awesome!! When it was running it was sounding pretty nasty. Well I removed the fan clutch/fan blade, and belt and cranked it up. I found 3 frozen pulleys so I swapped those out with some good spares. Water Pump did have a gasket but it also had red halimar spread on either side of it. I've never used that on a Water Pump gasket, I always use a light coat of Right Stuff and call it a day. The Water Pump itself looks good, so I'll just try a new gasket with some Right Stuff and see what happens.

Sad the frame is pretty rotten up front (vs the usual rear end rust). But the exterior/interior is in excellent shape.

From Friday Night Disco and my outing yesterday. We even got to break out my Hi-Lift kit and Fridays' come-along to help out a stuck pick-up

^^^to bad you guys couldn't find a nice scenic spot for a photo.

Friday, while changing oil on wife's 03...noticed anti-freeze dripping from plastic super-high-quality y-connection just before waterpump. Smallest connection, heater hose, was the suspect. Changed clamp to worm gear style, only made it worse. Decided not to mess with it anymore and hope it held until l got home, where l had a new one on the work bench. So, yesterday...l changed that out and all was good. Well, not really...lol...l was in a bit of a hurry, since my sister was bringing her car over for tie-rod ends in about twenty minutes and l had to get this rover out of the garage. Well, as l'm reaching for the anti-freeze jug on the bench to start filling cooling system...my eyes notice a fan lying just in front of the jug. What da hell!!!

So, once that hairbrained mistake was corrected, bled the system and unloaded the "new" 03 off the trailer and winched, then pushed it in the garage.

Hopefully, this gray rover will become my new trail machine.

In my defence...so many vehicles don't have fans anymore...so to look down while assembling and not see one doesn't trigger any immediate response from my braincells...lol.

Also wanted to mention...while removing the y-connector...l just touched that smallest leaking connections...and it cracked right off. So, if you haven't ever changed this plastic piece of the cooling system...do so...time bomb waiting to happen. (Probably just went on the terrorist watch list after typing that...lol)

Brian.
