What did you do with your DII today?

I just love the stuff I find on an old beat up nearly dead LR D2. I noticed the TC/ABS/HDC lights never illuminated on position II, and when I pulled the ABS codes all it had was a P1590 rough road signal and a LF intermittent ABS Sensor fault. Well I wasn't going to dive into the gauge cluster, but then the Temp gauge has always read just below the red on the gauge and when comparing that to my Scan Gauge II I knew something wasn't right with it as I was only in the 200-215F range (air bubbles and a stock 195F thermostat).
I had a bit of time this evening after work so I removed the gauge cluster, noticed I heard stuff inside of it rattling around, screws were missing, and it was barely held into place. Got my spare gauge clusters out, and I went to work on my work bench. The rattling I heard inside the gauge cluster was the 3 LED's just floating around inside the cluster. Someone had ripped them off for the TC/ABS/HDC warning lights vs fix a LF ABS sensor/hub..... I tried an 03 gauge cluster, but it wasn't happy and it's temp/fuel were reading the opposite (I've noticed that on several occasions when trying to install an 03-04 cluster into a 99-02. Some work perfectly & others read the opposite for temp/fuel). So I got a good tested set of 99-02 gauges and installed them onto the 03 gauge cluster PCB with less mileage on it. Then I used my Nanocom to SYNC the BCU to the cluster and all is well. The temp gauge isn't sitting in the red any more, and my 3 amigos work properly when the ignition is in position II.
So many hack jobs & just cheap repairs over nothing serious really. I see it all the time and it still amazes me to this day.

Last month I rebuilt rear subs. and the wife and I rhino lined the whole truck exterior. Black and tan.
Last week, replaced right rear ABS sensor, installed Ultra gauge, added seafoam to the engine oil and ran 500 miles then changed oil and added larger Wix oil filter during change. replaced purge valve, day before yesterday installed Britpart 2" lift, (shocks HD springs and OME steering stabilizer) yesterday installed front Steel winch bumper, replaced Shuttle valve to eliminate three amigos,(it worked!) removed front right window regulator to replace motor and found its the regulator instead of motor. should have new regulator in an hour. also ordered regulators for right rear and left front. pretty sure there was more but at this time that's all I can remember!
