Found the source of a ticking noise, vacuum leak at the SAI nipple on the throttle body. little rubber boot was all loose, cinched it up with a small zip tie, noise gone, idles better.
that hose is so small. How did you determine it was from there?
"that hose is so small. How did you determine it was from there?"
I checked every one of those SAI nipples, When I got to that one it just didn't feel right, the rubber had lost its elasticity and the hose was basically just sitting there not gripped onto the metal nipple. It came off easily in my hand, all the others required some force to remove.
My wife mentioned a ton of lights were on...on the dash. Yep, the three Sombrero wearing dudes. Checked codes, left front sensor. Changed both hubs, cleared codes...life is good again. Will say one thing, after driving the defender for the last few months...driving the discovery was like a whole different animal. Smooth as silk compared to the beast.
l'm starting to feel my age, be 60 in a few days. Went out in the garage and started to remove hubs. Got the wheels off, some tools out...and said screw this. It was about 35 degrees and my back was just not feeling any love...being hunched over in the wheel-well. Heard my wife leave to go to the store, so while she was gone, threw the tires back on and drove it out of the garage. She returned, ten minutes later, and asked if l was all done? Nope, l'm good, but not that good...lol...no, gonna take her to work and throw it on the lift. Drove the hour to work, hour and a half later...both sides done.
Yep, time to start working smarter...instead of harder.
Got a cool sticker and patch for it. My Tacoma forum did a Secret Santa, and here's my present. The rub is Pitfaced BBQ Rub, go check 'em out, if your into "Treating your meat" or "giving your butt the rub it deserves"!
