Just changes the shift points/shifts at higher rpm's?
For certain, Sport Mode changes the shift points. Easily verifiable.

Potentially, Sport Mode even changes to a more aggressive fuel/air mapping or ignition timing.

It really wakes up my Crower performance cam in my 4.6!

Got front driveshaft rebuilt. I busted one zerk fitting and needed a coupler for my grease gun, so I will finish up tomorrow.

finished up a dust/reverse/work light and two small baja design S2 work lights on the sides of the roof rack. The side mounted ones will need some tweaking as the fly rod holder on the one side is proving to be a bit difficult to get the light to throw where I want it.

To be fair, I've made 2 "performance" changes in 2020:

I did the PCV 308 mod and I switched to Sport Mode.

My old valve cover breather tube was 100% blocked, so who knows how the engine was handling that excess gas pressure. Now with the new 308 PCV mod some of those oil fumes are going back into the air intake as the factory originally wanted and there shouldn't be any excess pressure in the valve covers.

...so that might help explain why my Crower performance cam seems to have woken up coincidentally with me switching to Sport Mode for 2020. Just spitballin' an idea here.

Fun either way, though!

Replaced rear rotors and pads on wife's 03. Ordered parts from Lucky 8 last Sunday and they were at my door Wednesday at 11:00am, outstanding. Just had to wait for it to warm up to do them, 48° yesterday, perfect!

Checked all fluids under the hood, all good.

Brian.

Replaced the starter after putting it off 6 months. I was that guy bangin on the starter every few weeks at the parking lot. Finally got tired of that.

Speaking of power mods, I boosted the power of my engine by .... plugging in the MAF sensor. I have no idea how I was able to drive for the past week, but after cleaning the MAF I didn't get the connector clicked in all the way. Didn't notice b/c the CEL is on full time due to SAI delete. Engine ran a little rough on startup a couple of times, but once warm ran okay, but a bit sluggish.

After spending 87 million hours getting a laptop set up running XP and installing Delphi software to run my $50 CDP+ Autocom dongle, I checked codes and found the telltale p0102 and p1884. Yay OBD.

I checked ABS and got a couple of FL speed sensor codes and misc others. Cleared them, but my 3 faithful amigos were still there. The FL sensor codes are gone, but manufacturer code 115 is still there. Nobody on the Webz seems to know what this is. Some suggestions that it's a bad ground.

All Disco 2 owners should perform Option B. Link is in my signature. Click it.

There's no downside. It fixes some problems and rules out others.

Same for the PCV 308 mod.

We can argue about the throttle body bypass mod and such, but the Option B and PCV mods are solid hits.
