It's a water tank with solar heater. The tank is insulated, so it doesn't cool down too much over night. I used these here for attaching: https://www.ebay.com/itm/191682643828 (same seller). They fit perfectly on the '04 roof rails.

I had a Porsche 911 once and I remember this old guy tell me if I wanted it to run and purr track it a few times. I did I guess it will clean up a lot of sludge

drove the disco 2 1/2 hours did a couple trails and drove another 2 1/2 hours.
Total of 10 hours of trails and highway of running time. Any sludge must have all burned off lol

Intake leak test with my DIY smoke generator. The jar lid has the same diameter as the MAF, so it seals perfectly. The PCV valve and the attached hose leaked a bit, which could be fixed by tightening then valve and the worm clamp. I saw very little smoke coming out at the throttle shaft when WOT, but I guess this is negligible. Otherwise I could pressurize the intake system with a hand pump, check for leaks and pull the brake vacuum line to release the pressure in the end.

Same test on the exhaust system: A Lucas bottle fits perfectly into the tail pipe. Other than the known Y-pipe leaks (I have to seal them with Permatex 81878 next time) I found a crack at the input to the muffler. Looks like I need a new muffler soon.

With the help of forum members I have been diagnosing lean codes. I assumed the issue was the most complex/expensive one (Injector seals, brke servo, etc.). I bought a new Bosch MAF since I had only replaced my original MAF with a used one and wanted to rule that out. $120 from Parts Geek for a genuine Bosch.

Well, guess what... Installed new MAF yesterday, codes fixed! Simplest answer many times is the right one...

Now I am seeing P1415 and P1412 for SAI system. Solving one issue at a time!

For 1412/1415 check all vacuum lines, rubber 90's, and the main line from the pump to the metal SAI pipe.
