Had a couple misfire codes on my wife's 03, #1 - #6, both on same coil pack. So, off came the upper intake...and the SAI ex. manifold tubes, stainless steel tubes and pump from firewall (for good...good riddens!)...coil pack and wires changed from a disassembled past Dll...reassembled...cleared prior codes...quick test drive. Ran perfect...stick a fork in it.

My wife was very pleased to have her baby back...so, maybe this would be a good time to bring up a roof top tent for the 110...lol.

Just noticed...we're on page 777...maybe that had something with everything going smoothly today.

Swapped in a new crankshaft position sensor for my recently purchased "non-runner" and it fired right up! I pinpointed this as the issue based on lurking in these forums. So, much thanks to all contributors.

If anyone has a spare cps cover I'd be happy to purchase.

Test drove the 03 today, bit farther than yesterday after coil pack change, 60 miles, and it ran great. Forgot to mention yesterday, that after reading a reply here about cruise control "hunting" and Best4X4 mentioned the adjustment necessary to correct issue. Well, since l was right there putting the upper intake back on...made the adjustments. Wow, what a difference! Between the new coils and properly adjusted cruise control...it was like driving a new vehicle.

Don't drive my wife's Dll very often, but l drove it to a funeral a few weeks ago and notice a slight rough idle and just doggy feeling on the expressway. Actually, l'd noticed the rough idle for a while now. I'd check codes a couple times and all was fine. But, l believe these coil packs were getting weak for a while now...it runs much stronger and has super clean idle.

I used the Nanocom to bleed the brake system.
Fairly easy leaving the driver's side door open and dangled the Nanocom to the ground for easy access as I crawled around underneath wrenching on bleed screws.

After reading up on Turner Engines, LS conversions, and Atlantic British remanned engines, I made the tough but practical decision to get an Atlantic British long block installed. It's not easy to find reputable shops in the DC area to do anything else out of the ordinary and since its a daily driver I wanted a fairly quick swap. I just got it back from the shop and will take it back on Wednesday for the initial oil change after the first 2-300 mile break in. So far so good

Old engine

New engine (can't see much from the photo but its in there)

4x4Land in Chantilly, Virginia did the work. Lots of good reviews. They have very good knowledge of AB engines (the good and the bad), so they knew which defects to look out for to save all of us time and energy in the long run.

If I can't do it myself, I only take my D2 to 4x4 Land. The owner, Pierre Jaber, is a LR whisperer. An amazing LR mechanic for sure.

Can I ask what he charge in Labor for the engine swap?

Good to know, I wish I knew Pierre three years ago when I first got my disco. I usually do the work myself also but an engine swap is something I'll happily left someone else handle. It was 10K for the swap (for the 4.6 longblock and labor) and that included a few other items to be installed like a shaft/seal piece for the harmonic balancer that I never knew existed but was needed and some other minor items. It took about 2 weeks total but a week of that time was because I just dropped the truck off earlier than needed. I see your in NOVA. I'm in Arlington. Feel free to PM me if you want to meet up or chat more.
