Don’t be a buzzkill. Nothing about these trucks is an investment so just about every purchase can be considered “wasted” by someone’s standards. I’ve “wasted” over $30k on mine when I could have bought a $15k Honda as a daily driver.
Replaced master cylinder in white one and continued planning my dual battery set up (not much to do but rip it all out and do it).
The adrenaline stuff looks great, I would not worry about dislocation cones however, odds of needing them slim and definitely not if not wheeling often and are not worth the annoyance of installing.
Replaced my CPS because the internet suggested that might fix my stalling problem, where the Rover would suddenly die and then decline to start until it felt like it. Well, that didn't fix it. This time I did what one should do and check for spark, which it does have, so now it looks like the fuel pump is the next stop.
At least it wasn't that hard a job, 4 bolts and a connector. I have a pit and a couple of gear wrenches and knocked it out in half an hour. I am blessed with small hands which helped quite a bit.
I also did the inline thermostat mod with a 180' thermostat. I still had a heck of a time getting it all bled out. What I ended up doing was raising the tank while the overflow hose undone and raised above everything else and got plenty of air out that way.
This damn thing-Ford will probably have my Bronco built by the time I get it properly back on the road!
Went out wheeling with the old man yesterday to check out his new (to him) Jeep. We hit a new trail I'd never been on before in Unicoi, TN. It was a great time.
These were some pretty tight trails, mostly meant for side by sides I think, and *lots* of pinstriping happened on the Disco in particular. There's still a bunch of unexplored trail for us there and we'll be back.
Also began Uwharrie prep. Bought our ticket yesterday. Blacked out the hood using some leftover Raptor Liner which turned out very well. Also discovered what had been causing my [growing] exhaust leak when it was much louder than it had been morning before last. Turns out the passengers side exhaust pipe had broken free of the flange that meets the manifold. Got that and a bunch of other seams welded back up. Still need to get a CB radio in the truck (ordered last night) and the passengers side motor mount replaced. It's completely torn and I'm guessing that's a big part of the cause of the exhaust breaking off.
Here's a few pictures and a couple videos from the last couple days.
I got the LS swap bellhousing installed and cleaned up the engine bay a bit. If the machine shop isn't done with my 5.3 block by Friday I'll call if quits and start building this fairly clean 4.8 block I just picked up. Just ordered most of what I need to finish either engine install.
I purchased off of eBay for Myrtle a new in box Smoke Monster ProFlex+ smoke machine.
I got it for a song at $100 (Ł76) + shipping as the kit is regularly $950+ (Ł700).
First ones up and over Yankee Hill last weekend after snow last week. Would have taken more photos/videos but if you watch the videos you can tell that being outside the vehicle was less than ideal haha still a fantastic day out.
