Thank you for the advice! I have decided I will do the brake flush myself this weekend when the ABS is all buttoned up.

Oil Pan Gasket was successfully replaced last night (along with a good cleaning of the pan itself). Now on to the coolant leak

Today I drove 96 miles from my home NE of Houston to Columbus Texas to help some of the other members of the Houston Land Rover Club clear trails for an upcoming event. The 2 LR dealerships have a drive about for new LR owners and our club volunteers a few weekend to clear the trails and then to help the day of the event.

The brush is VERY thick as things have had all spring and summer to grow. We typically rent a bush hog mower to clear the grass and then we all follow up with chain saws, lopping shears and hedge trimmers. Most of the participants will probably be driving brand new shiny and expensive rigs so we try to clear the brush so they don't freak out when the get some Texas pin stripes from a nearby branch. And most of this brush is like acacia trees and covered with big thorns which could even puncture a tire if not cleared to the side of the trail.

We worked from 8:30am to 12:30 or so. The nice part is you get to drive the trails! Sadly, I did put several new scratches on my D2 but I will wear them proudly. Since I have a roof rack my rig was the deciding factor on how far to trim the trees. We also had to use our winches to drag some fallen trees out of the way.

Here is a shot of my rig and 2 others including a 1974 Lightweight. And one of a Disco being pressed into lumberjack service.

A little overdue under-body cleaning with the sprinkler method. Then off to the car wash to finish off the under-body wash.

Where to start ?
Now that my Rover is finally up and running reliably, (Full 120K service, brake pads replaced, new radiator, 180Thermostat, 8mm plugwires & plugs, expansion tank etc) we drove out to George, WA to see Black Sabbath on Saturday night.

On the way down the other side of Snoqualmie Pass we stopped for gas to find the transfer case leaking like mad and pooling fluid onto the ground. OOPS! Time to get that resealed then! Other than that the Disco is running really well and after servicing i'm seeing a 30% increase in gas mileage from an average of 10.4mpg to 13.7mpg.

This week i'm out in the UK on an emergency work trip, being tormented by all of the Diesel Landies. My rental car isn't a land rover, but it is a manual transmission, 6 speed Peugot. Brilliant wee thing! i'm getting 60 mpg (british gallon) on the motorway!

DUDE! I am so very jealous of you. One of the huge disadvantages of living in the middle of nowhere is that bands don't come out here at all. Black Sabbath has been one of my favorite bands for a very long time, and I know that this may be one of my last chances to see them live. I saw Heaven & Hell a few years back, and hopefully will be able to see Saint Vitus now that they are touring.

Anyways, what did I do with my Disco today?! Ordered more parts!

Dude you have one of my favorite, and probably rarer, colored Discovery's. Great looking Disco.

Yeah but to be fair, you do live on a scenic Island
Sabbath was great, Ozzy was off key during some of the newer stuff, but they were on it for the classics. epic time, plus my truck didnt break down, which is a bonus

In other news, I get to pick up my rack next week and i ordered a new snorkel today from John Craddock.

When i get home, it'll be resealing the transfer case, mounting the rack, wiring up lights and fitting the snorkel.

Meh, It would be different if I grew up here I suppose, but I'm not able to get over the shortcomings.

I know Ozzy is a terrible singer these days but its just the fact that its the original lineup (aside from Brad Wilk, who I don't even think was born when the first album came out).

Anyways I'll stop trying to derail this thread!
