I didn't break out the fly rods this trip, didn't have much time and I still need to figure out how to get my rodholder (so nice to have rods rigged and ready to go with no setup/breakdown) on the side of the rack with the tent. The alpine lakes usually fish well and then the headwaters for the animas river are around Silverton and that fishes better and better towards durango. Can't spell the river name near Ridgeway but that fishes well I've heard as well.
Went to the dyno with my 2003 TD5.
No powerups or anything done yet except EGR is not operational but is present.
And on the next weekend gonna change the exhaust from turbo to bumper, to stainless with only one muffler.
Rip the EGR out and change IC hoses to silicone ones.
Finally had time to replace the hood release cable, then I did a nice 5 hour - 400km (250 Miles) drive to mid BC and then returned used about 20 gal each way, considering all the 7 -12% long grades in sport mode the Disco did well on fuel.
Temps were decent 183 - 186 on the flats - 186 to 203 on the hills ambient was about 90 F / 32 C ran about 100 110 km 60 -65 mph most of the time.
Well I opened a can of worms and
now I got to clean the rest pdf the engine bay.
the intake took me at least 60 hours. It’s still not as perfect as I’d like it but I think I’m done. Now to clean up the vacuum lines and painte the heater pipes
I got tired of looking down the gap between the hood and fenders and seeing bare metal. Scuffed with a red scuffing pad, hit with some etching primer and then blew in some Alveston Red I had custom mixed in an aerosol can at my local body supply store. I am much happier.
Old exhaust was still in very good condition except the rear to mid pipe flanges and bolts had pretty much disappeared.
Still was not leaking at all.
Also removed the EGR and changed the stock intercooler pipes to silicone. Need to blank off the coolant pipes to the "EGR cooler" and remove it at some point. Blanked the two vacuum lines with a M5 bolt for now.
Next stop, a new tune.
I'm wondering if the stampings on the mufflers "05 02" mean it's manufacture date?

I'm jealous.
With the clear coat having failed on the roof and on the bonnet of my Rioja Red truck, I wish that gap was the only thing that needed paint!
