Went to Winter Romp in Maine. Only broken part was the front passenger ABS sensor wire snagged by a tire chain. Had a great time and met many fellow Rover enthusiasts.
I am very sorry for your loss. In case you part it out, I need an engine (my just died a month ago and decent rebuilds are out of stock or too expensive for me). Please let me know.
Yesterday was fluids day, checking and toping off. Installed the short steering stops. One broke off so I got to held a nut on and slowly work it out (4 attemps, it broke welds, last weld I built up a noband welded the nut to the extra bit). The good part i the short tops while making a slight smaller turning circle makea big different in getting around. No longer need to do 3 point turn to get out of driveway.
Next on the list is o2 sensors, Bank 2,1 decided it has had enough of this world. @The Deputy Nice T7, big oof on the rest.
@The Deputy Dang that looks rough! Seems like the disco did its job and kept you in one piece though. If you end up parting out, let me know. I'd love some drip rail finishers as my pass front got into a fight with a branch and left LOL.
Brought her home from @longtallsally house in Colorado. Approx 1,132 miles in 17.5 hours. Had a scary moment when it was smoking at a gas station. Turned out to be oil from the leaky valve cover gasket dripping on the cat. Only other casualties were the passenger side wiper blade gave up and the gas door decided it didn't want to stay closed any more. There's also a random noise over bumps which it just occurred to me, may be the front license plate under the back seat. Time for a bourbon and bed.
That's my Colorado in the background. That's the reliable truck that makes this all possible.
I have to say, the Disco is a really, really, good long distance vehicle. Despite my cruise control not working, this was an easy trip and the Disco just ate the miles up.
This may be the beginning of a beautiful friendship . . .
TD5 got a new front wheel hub.
A bit tricky locations for a few bolts holding the hub in, but finally managed.
it took ~1h 45min, it was snowing and -3 celcius.
Had to use some pipe and a jack to loosen up most of the bolts as no proper room for a impact gun even with swivels etc.
Hub itself came out easily after some pre removal hammering was involved with plenty of WD40 and a proper puller.
Puller legs didn't seat properly on a D2 hub, as the oval holes on the legs are narrower on one end than other.
Just need to source a new hub nut as forgot to order it and did not come with the hub.
Yetix, glad you had a good trip, checked out your truck a while back when I stopped by to drop a part at Brice's. Interior is very very nice on yours!
Thanks whowa, I'm enjoying it. It has a small exhaust leak where the heat shield meets the catalytic converter that needs fixing ASAP and the driver's valve cover is leaking too much. Once I fix those and do the Extinct in-line modification it'll at least be regularly drivable.
Oh, and it passed California's strict smog inspection on the first try!! Hopefully I'll get it registered on Saturday.
God I hope you put some neversieze on it going back.
Me?
I use plenty of copper paste/spray on all the nuts and bolts I ever handle.
Well, maybe not on hot spots like exhaust manifolds etc..
But generally I'm a pervert with a box full of copper spray/paste.
