I finally got around to doing the inline thermostat this weekend. At the same time I went green, replaced all hoses, replaced the wp with a Flowcooler, replaced the expansion tank and lower Y pipe with aluminum parts. I swear it runs better now.
This morning I did the PCV mod. Still need to test drive that. The baffle was plugged solid, of course. Could not have been easier to pull the fitting out of the valve cover; just put some pliers on the hose down at the VC and rotated the fitting back and forth while pulling up on the hose. Came right out.
I saw a side trail and was like "let's see where this goes". Then I was like oops.
All's well that ends well. Made it home and didn't break anything. So it's a win.
Been there done that. That's how I spent the night in the truck in the middle row at a 22 degree angle to the side, and the front about 1.5ft higher than the rear. I just came off Shuteye Peak Trail which I ran solo and was heading to see my roommate who was working in Yosemite, and took a short cut through the woods. I had just installed some HF off-road lights and was eager to try them out. It was a simple forest road but had a large muddy ditch I thought I could drive next to, but I slid into it and got stuck. I ended up spending the night there and someone found me the next morning and pulled me out. A very humblingexperience. The best part was there was a bypass to the right due to the ditch but I didn't see it bc of how dark it was...
almost done with all new PS hoses and PS pump. Haven't been able to put any real time to it so 30 min here and there has really dragged this out. Very excited to get the white disco back together and finally see how she drives with the new 1.4 t-case!!
Had a ton of oil out exhaust, had been hoping it was a valve seal. Nope
Finally brought my head to a machine shop and it pressured perfect, so my #4 cylinder issues are definitely rings.
So frustrated. I've stalked this forum a lot and am leaning towards a 4.6.
I need to get this back on road by winter, my daily drivers right now are both not winter friendly haha.
Bought a 65 Kirkland Battery at Costco. 2021/01 manufacturing date. Immediate replacement with a new one as it failed within the 4 year warranty. Having said that , the battery was 130 Cdn in 21, and 190 in this summer of 2024.
Ordered a new windshield,8 years of offroading, always the last truck not a crack. 1 freaking dump truck passes at speed windshield done. At least insurance covers all but 300.
Aw sorry to hear about the windshield Richard. I've also never gotten a crack or chip in mine on any of our trips or the 50k kms I've put on it. I'm probably overdue for a Crack.
Our B.C. highways in winter and your first crack? They no longer sand our roads, they gravel them. I’ve had to replace my P38 windshield twice in 6 years (but I routinely drive the Coq and Connector and the Big White road). As you say, it’s a good thing ICBC covers most of it.
Prepping for state inspection my 04 Disco HSE 4 6l. Went thru the HG repair and updated the components while everything was out. Even found my alternator bracket was broken last winter when water pump failed. This Spring the HG failed so maintenance time along with the repairs. Back up and running also delete the og Y setup thermostat went with the inline and reuseable gasket. Removed rear sway bar and links as they break often and I read recently many delete them. I have heavy duty springs in the rear upgrade from medium in 2012. Tonight just made my own quick release link out of my right front sway bar link drilled the top threaded and put in a safety couplet pin similar to a linchpin just spring catches I feel it holds better. And after that I added a solar charger for battery maintenance as mine eats batteries. So hope that solves the issue. Rear boot handle serviced as it was jammed again so sprayed with some of my mixed pb blaster/transmission fluid should last a bit longer than wd40. And final thing I serviced tonight was my right front
bumper sprayer that squirts the headlight was hanging broken. So had to make my own tip to connect it. Hope what I did holds up but its together and sprays. The rest of what I checked was lights and normal stuff for inspection which just had to tap a corner light that was out and thats on now. So should be ready to go. Tires are beat I have a set on preorder and another I'm hoping for a great quote before I do any installs for tires. First just will see if they pass as is. Been a few months without being on the road glad to not have had to put her down.
