I was not expecting much at all, but the additional reverse lights is a bonus. Surprisingly it fit reasonably well. I need to pull the mounting backets off and lengthen the hole about 1/3" to all it to sit closer to the vehicle, but otherwise it is reasonable quality. With the additional adjustment room I will be able to eliminate all the gaps near the existing body lines. Not the worst $300 I have spent.
First big snow in the Sierra Nevada over Thanksgiving. We made it up to the Rubicon trail head (East near Lake Tahoe) for a day hike. Slept in the roof top tent. Temperatures went down to 10 deg. F (-12C) at night. I have a Webasto block heater which can heat the cabin when engine is not running and I built a permanent, insulated access to the roof top tent through the sunroof, so we were totally fine.
Finally got the 2” Terra Firma Lift and upgraded to 265/65-18 Falken Wildpeak A/T4s - looking great but needed to relocate the rear tire - solid piece of metal from Atlantic British did the job -
I also realized that the previous owner had very slightly pushed the front bumper in on the passenger side resulting the tire rubbing on a l/h turn. Perfectly drivable, but checking in with Green Oval Motors in Portland to see what could remedy the issue. Other than that really happy with the lift and tires!

Which install method did you go with? Did you cut the original studs or just mount it up?

I just did the 1st install option and mounted the bracket without cutting - seemed a lot easier though I am not sure how much additional strain there will be on the mount bracket -
I used to be your doppledanger in PDX (up until 10 years ago when we moved to BC)... same colour and my Disco was also serviced at Green Oval
Does Doug still own the shop?

you bet, pulled it off of a D1 with a RTE rear bumper, i believe the swing out was from a company called high country but can't seem to find out too much info on them. My bumper someone had welded or built in a post for a swing out but I never got around to building one......so here I am and will cut out and replace the old post (too small of diameter) and install one that will fit the bearings for this one. Real cool is it ties in to the rear door so once unlatched it will move with the door and not act like a normal swing out that you'd have to open all the way and lock in place before opening the door.
will need to make a new tire mount though as the d1 has a different lug pattern. should be simple enough.
l believe the D1 and Defender are the same. So, hypothetically, if you knew someone that let's say...has a Blue, 1990, 110 Defender in Michigan (similar to the one pictured or better yet, exactly like the one pictured)...and with Christmas coming up as it is.
Just imagine how happy that guy will be Christmas morning...
