New to me 2003 with 118K. Dismantled radiator and all its hoses. Rinsed. Discarded the thermostat to the trash can no matter if good or bad. Hooked engine direct to radiator inlet. Hooked radiator outlet direct to pump suction with a nipple for the heater/reservoir. Replaced the brittle plastic pipe on top with a copper one.
Placed a battery, ran fine... Will see.
Correct: no thermostat. By winter will replace the copper elbow with one in a housing.

jealous. Was hoping to make it this year but our move hasn't happened quite yet. Missed the National rally too but I also avoid that at all costs as moab this time of year still too hot and when it's in Ouray, I'd rather be solo or with a couple friends than groups that big as nothing is actually hard in that region just gorgeous.
When I bought my Disco, everyone said it would be unreliable and I needed to have a reliable daily driver. Oh the irony. My truck's thermostat crapped the bed this weekend so I drove the Disco to the stealership to get a new one

I've used mine as a daily driver for 2 years now without any major problems. Little fixes here and there (and, yes, there are oil spots all over my garage floor). I've put about 17k miles on it without a breakdown!
I did that once and sunk into a sinkhole in the site and had to be towed out at 11pm lol, i never went into a construction site again.
You mean like this? This was the previous truck, I learned my lesson. They have foe the most part been exceptionally reliable. Might be bc I never take is more than 30 miles from home so if it breaks down it does not feel so bad. I have only had one breakdown, several years ago due to over heating.

Pretty much except my rear wheels had sunk down to the fender arch, Mines been pretty reliable, I drove it from Vancouver BC Canada to Ohio USA over the summer, just over 6000 miles round trip and I didn't Have a single mechanical issue
