I didn't pay - because, thanks to these forums, I did it on my own - but I was quoted $457.00 for rear rotors and brake pads. Absurd, and that was from an independent LR mechanic!!

I bought a full rear brake kit to include pads and rotors from Rovers North for $99.99 - took me about 2 hours but got them on and they work just fine!

I was on a trip over the winter holidays and it was snowing and just my luck...my window regulator went out. I was too busy on my trip to fix it myself and had nowhere to do it anyway. Took it to Rover and I forget the total damage but it was over $500. I could have done it myself well under $100

$5 each for the set screws in the disc brake rotors. I said no thanks, I can live without them. And then the parts guy offered to discount them 50%, I still declined. This is at Frankel JLR, Hunt Valley, Maryland, their parts prices are always outrageous - the JLR in Clarksville, MD is much better.

I just called Land Rover Of Bellevue, they want $152.59 for a set of rear brake pads and $98.80 for the Front pads. NO THANKS! I guess car sales are slow now so they make up for it in parts.

A friend of mine just bought an absolutely pristine 2003 DII from a young couple that had just spent something like 8 grand at the local LR-BMW-JAG dealership to do the 90,000 mile service routine. He had just totalled a similar DII he had only owned for a month. He gave them $ 5600 for it, They were second owneres and had owned it less than 2 years, so they lost their butts on it. Said between purchase price and maint they 20 grand in it. He's happy as a pig in mud right now.

I know what you mean, I had a beautiful 86.5 Black 928 with 32v 5.0 until it need major reconstructive surgery when every fluid in it began to leak.

I had to let it sit for a while, then ended up with the wife trading it in on a damn Explorer that I never cared to be anywhere near it, much less drive it.

on my 96 RR 4.0, I guess I "locked the door incorrectly" (according to the dealer) with my remote ... I guess I hit lock twice when I was only supposed to hit lock once .. !! ?? HUH ?

and so I had to get a body control module $1200
and a new door latch $450.

03 Disco

$1000 for a replacement pumpkin for the rear axle. Part cost only.

also, $1500 for a steering box from the dealer. I had to buy the axle center section due to time constraints, but I'm generally offended by every Land Rover price.

I do love the truck, but she is nickel and diming me to death.
