It depends on the serial of the transfer case, I think. There are different numbers of teeth.

ALSO a D1 case will not have the hi-lo switch in the front output, which will make the D2 not work with HDC and manual mode.

Thanks for the reply. Time I source the linkage this is starting to get expensive. Maybe I should install a winch instead.

Thanks Jafir, I did not know about the H-N-L switch, I stand corrected.

Just a little precision though, the gears that we see in the picture don't come with the front output housing. They are part of the differential shaft, and match the gears on the secondary shaft. When you replace the front output housing you keep your own differential shaft.

It's well worth a call to Paul Grant as he has seen this all before no doubt and maybe able to help with the interchangeable parts and a lot of hard earned knowledge and advice.

Well, cdl it is. $150 after core charge refund. Its out of a 2000 with 77k miles on it. So half the miles I have on my stock one. What seals and gaskets should I change on it while its out on the bench?

Depends on how in-depth you want to go. GASKET SET LT230 TRANSFER BOX RRC, DEF, RTC3890,RND459, PLD459 - Rovers North - Classic Land Rover Parts

is the whole kit
