Got it all put together, but still have the M+S lights. Trying the battery charge just to make sure that's not the issue.

Did you clear the fault codes first?

No, I didn't clear them, not sure how to do that.

Anyone having issues with the shaft being too long to take the xyz switch off? Does it just push back in, or do I have to find a way to shimmy it off and around the shaft? And what’s the best way to unplug the xyz switch?

i found that i had to move the heat shielding material in order to get the switch off the rotating shaft.
it was much easier to reach/undo the connector once i had the whole switch off the side of the transmission

Default XYZ Progress

So I had the stall out, limp mode, then got to the point where it would only go in reverse. I determined after process of elimination (battery just a year old, alternator 6 mos old, etc.) that the only possible issue was the XYZ Switch, which was encased in gunk and AC condensate funk. Let me tell you, that lil Switch is a PITA to get out. But, the good news is scraping off the heat shielding with a long flathead makes all the difference, even though the Switch still won’t slide easily out. After forcefully pushing it up and out of the way of the shifter arm it was on, it completely came off! Not before slicing my finger open (wear gloves) and I still haven’t unplugged the electrical connection (tomorrow) but this has been a four month bane that I put off until I just determined today to get done. I feel like a detailed description of how to remove this Gear selector Switch is necessary. I will report back once I have the new one on and I’m up and running again.

I've been putting off removing and taking apart my XYZ switch to clean it out for 2 years now since I randomly get the P0705 fault for the auto gearbox and flashing M&S.
I got another P0705 fault today so I'm going to try and tackle it this weekend if my wife lets me.

Did you get yours off I started to try and after the nut was off it wouldn't budge. Didn't know if it needed to be in neutral or not. Got pulled away and hope to try again this weekend. Let me know if you know the trick

I've removed a few, on both my truck and a few boneyard trucks. In some instances the selector shaft has had some "gunk" or corrosion on it and has made sliding the switch off the shaft difficult. Try taking a wire brush, or even a toothbrush, to the shaft to clean it up. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
