Bottom radiator hose cold

A clogged radiator and a brand new one don't weigh the same. But you can pour water in one end and it will come out the other. The tubes are in parallel, and all fill up from the box on the side. One way to eval a radiator is measure temp with IR thermomenter. Should not be more than 10F spread, with lower rows being cooler.
The clogs start at the bottom usually.

Well, the engine will have some new life, and the heads will be a lot cleaner. The DIY mechanic will be what has changed the most, a new swagger, confident that he can fix things; and that special punch on the Land Rover Man Card for "head gasket replaced".
It is true that there are more causes of overheat ing than head gaskets. But overheat enough and the head warps, and you'll be doing the head gaskets, even if it was something simple like a heater hose clamp. By all means do not trust the heat gauges. Get a scanner so you will know for sure.

Checked all temps with my IR gun. Baseline cold - 78 degrees. After about 10 min warm up. Top rad inlet hose 165 - Inlet radiator tank 95 - all fins upper and lower 90 - bottom hose 83!! Evidently getting zero flow. Still leaning towards totally stuck thermostat since it has been sitting for a year. Water pump seems working - getting flow through all other lines - they are getting warm - and return flow to reservoir. After I flushed and checked radiator and system again I filled with straight water. Water stays clear with no oil or residue so hope this means the head gaskets are good (for now anyway)

Got it working - turned out to be a stuck thermostat - had not been driven in a long time. Good coolant flow and no overheating.
Advice for anyone doing this - buy the complete thermostat kit that includes the elbow, water pump tube and intake/plenum gaskets. None of the old parts can usually be reused after removal. Got mine from Atlantic British.
