Default Stuck Fuel Door Switch on Dash

1996 RANGE ROVER 4.6 HSE.

The dash-mounted switch above the wheel for the fuel filler door is stuck in down position. Is there any way to free this switch and/or get the fuel filler door open? Need help bad!

Thanks, Faversham

You can manually open the fuel door by removing the rear inner panel which will give you access the the inner mechanism.
I have never had cause to remove the switch but it should just pop out with a little gentle prying. Give it a good squirt of contact cleaner and see if that frees it up.

Chris.

Rover connection sells the part, it's relatively cheap and easy to install.

Open the door for now as the above post said via the fuel door, or - once you pull out the old broken switch you can just jump across the 2 wires there with a short piece of wire for contact.
