How many miles on the trucks plugs and the plug wires?
What octane gas do you run and have you ever decarboned the engine?

Mike
45K. Ibought it used so I can't speak for the first 90K.Since I have owned it, I have used premium (92). Yes, I have had it decarboned. It also was dealer serviced on all but two regular (minor)service/maintenance intervals. The only major one skipped was the 90K service (which does call for complete tune-up with new plugs & wires, along other items).

I would suggest you replace the plugs and wires along with a good induction service.
Do you like to work on the truck, if so we should talk and I can run you thru what to do and what parts to use.
Send me an e-mail with your tele number and I would be glad to call you.

I may have had my fill of home repairs on the '97 I just traded out. I would like to discuss this issue/problem/solution in greater detail, however. Contact information has been forwarded as indicated.

Disco Mike-As it turns out....I was very misinformed (sticking valve)by the mechanic who originally looked at my Disco. Turned out that on three of the plugs, the electrode had been completely burned off, the others were not much better. Additionally, the plug wires crumbled in your hand. After installing new plugs and wires, misfire dissappeared and truck is now running well. He also knew of the CV issue and has replacements in stock. Thanks again for all your advise and help. If I ever need additional help, I now know where to start.
