Default Driver door stuck on UNLOCK (04 Disco II)

I have an 04 Discovery II SE

the lock lever on the driver side will not go down from the buttons or remote. (by "lock lever" i mean the thing that pops up and down when you lock/unlock the car).

if I force the lock closed by pushing it with my hands, it does lock, but then I have to climb across the passenger seat to exit the vehicle.

Wondering how I can fix this on my own without going to the shop.

Thanks,
Hubie

Definitely can fix on your own. You need to open up the door panel and investigate.

Remove all the screws around the bottom panel, the 2 screws at the door handle, and the one screw at the inner door lever black cover thingy.

Then you should use a split panel popper tool and work your way around the permitter.

There is a plastic vapor barrier that you will have to cut open and tape up the openings after.

Not hard, just need to roll up your sleeves and do it.

Also in the future, Post in the D2 section.

I should also note that you might need a new door actuator, but it sounds like a clip or something has come undone or broke.
