Default high speed vibrations!!! need Help

I noticed my 99 Disco I is having vibrations, they are noticeable at low speeds but increase at high speeds. When I release the throttle the vibrations stop and it coasts smoothly. Any advice on what might be causing this?

If a Discovery 2, don't drive, and inspect for front prop drive shaft. If shaft does not have multiple grease fittings, and has not been greased frequently (best every oil change), then it can split. When it flies apart, it can poke a big hole in transmission case. Who needs a $7000 transmission job from the dealer? There is a write up in the tech section on rebuilding it DIY, https://landroverforums.com/forum/sh...ad.php?t=29302, or you can buy new shaft and have installed by driveline shop or mehanic or DIY. You can remove shaft IF you have a CDL that you can lock (either installed or with a spud on the transfer case that was never attached to a lever), and just drive on rear wheel drive.

check the ujoints on the drive shafts and also make sure the rear coupler on the drive shaft to the rear diff is still in good condition. when they start to tear they cause a vibration. also a cracked flex plate will do the same . good luck

So, in the future, start lubing them at least twice a year.

Or lube them (at least) on the correct schedule which is every 5,000 miles or 3 months, for "normal" service.
