Key broken off in ignition 2000 Disco Series 2
So yesterday a small piece at the end of my key broke off in my ignition in the off position. Spent an hour or so trying to get it out, neither could a locksmith. Does anyone have any experience getting the barrel out and if so can you get the piece out of the barrel when you do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Attached is a link in the D1 sticky section for tumbler removal/repair.
I'm pretty sure they are close enough in structure that this would work.
In the end you might need to buy a new ignition and door handle with matching key if you want to have one key.
In the meantime at the back of the ignition barrel is the connection to the wiring harness. Unscrew both small silver Phillips screws and pull off black round connector. This will expose a slotted key hole type section, insert flat head screwdriver, turn clockwise to start your rover.
Good luck
