Iirc you need to soak new lifters in clean oil, might want to wipe bottoms and put assembly lube on as you drop in also squirt assembly lube down on cam lobes , also throw break in additive and do a break in oil change

No adjustment on rockers, if the lifters were not dished on bottom and still springy I would think cams beat or push rods mushroomed if rockers are all good

I am sure someone will jump in to elaborate

Did you do a video of the noise?

I just spent two weeks living in the truck on the beach while getting company set up in Houston. The only thing I have are pics of me getting swamped by high tide Soaking lifters now....

Two of them from last week. One came easy the other was difficult but came out the top. Will be pulling the others out in an hour or so. I read where they get mushroomed. Hopefully the rest wont be any worse..

You can buy the lube and additive on the shelf at auto zone and probly most places, think I used Lucas

My lifter came out of the bores tight, some real tight cause there was a ring of burnt oil on them lol

Okay thanks Tom. Got them all out last night. Some where a little difficult but not that bad. I only found one that I could really feel worn on the bottom and it was on the quiet side of the engine. Reassembling today.

Just finished...even removed and cleaned the pickup and oil pan. Same ticking...going to sleep to wimper into my pillow. The pushrods where clearly mushroomed and I cant imagine I did not get more clearance with new lifters. Going to go buy stethoscope tomorrow and see if I have missed a exhaust leak or something...anything more than having to change out the cam-shaft.

As I was crying tears of sadness into my macaroni I realized that I have become such an expert at taking off the plenum I can remove it in the morning, then remove the driver side valve cover, reattach everything and find out where the HELL the tapping is coming from....followed by drowning myself in 15w-40 if that does not work....
