2010 LR2 Engine Electrical Issues
This new one is a Bosch. The failed one was a one I bought on Amazon for $10 less than the Bosch from a FLAPS. Amazon had no warranty even though it was only 6 months old. The Bosch has a 3 year warranty.
Generally, sensors have tight tolerances and are strong candidates for an OEM or at least high-quality brand name part. In this case, it seems like it was a quality issue.
You did a great job solving this challenging electrical problem! As sensors have shared connection points, a fault in A can result in codes being thrown for B and C. The lesson for all of us is to review the live data available to observe any out-of-range values and consider them during the diagnosis. Otherwise, I would not have thought it was the fuel pressure sensor based on the codes you got (and I've replaced two fuel pressure sensors on my LR2).

FLAPS and their vendors at least know they're on the hook for returns and even liability (ie fuel part leaks, starts fire, destroys car, etc). The chinese products on amazon can't be held accountable so a lot of it is basically just fraud. Some of those parts don't even have a sensor function, just a dummy load to provide a normal-ish signal that the ECU expects (regardless of what's actually going on with the engine). That's why they don't throw related codes, the ECU thinks the bogus sensor looks good so it blames other things.
I prefer OEM for sensors and other critical parts, where available. Otherwise brand-name aftermarket, and I'll research specifics where I can (some brands are good for some things, but not so great for others).
