Default [Opinion Needed] LR3 Compressor Air Intake Replacement

Hello Everyone
So I was attempting to get access to my air compressor air intake to clean out the filter but I cannot gain access to it since I have rear hvac in my LR3. Looking at the replacement part, the canister holding the filter has a clip that goes into the body and I cannot get enough leverage to pop it out and taking out the rear vhac seems silly.

So what is everyone's opinion on cutting the air intake line which has an outside diameter of 9.45mm and getting something like the following which has an inside diameter of 9.5mm. So getting in on and clamping it down isn't an issue. The original filter is just a sponge filter with a membrane. This would make changing this out in the future simple and cheap.

Sure, joining another tubing section like that would work. It doesnt need to hold pressure or anything. Just fyi, they don't usually need cleaning or replacing as a maintenance item, unless you get the inside of the vehicle really dusty fairly often.

I had the same issue. I was having a problem with my compressor and thought the filter might be plugged but when I looked in the compartment where it is located I didn't see even the smallest amount of dust so decided it was not likely an issue. I thought of buying the filter unit from a wrecker, cutting the plastic pipe and locating the replacement in a sensible location but I have not made that a priority. The LR3 seems to be well sealed against dust so this is probably a rare problem.

I dont see the point. I know of no case were the filter has been an issue. After all, it pulls cabin air from an area that is pretty isolated. So like everyone said above....
