Great advice DaveM! For any RPM, Shifting Issues, Stalling, clean the throttle body plate, and check your air filter.

And the K&N has had mixed reviews with D3 drivers. Apparently the oil can cause false readings to the MAF Sensor (Which is directly after the filter) which can then get covered in oil and fail.

I get the new MAF Sensor in on Tuesday. After the install I will post my results!

Default installed new MAF

I installed a new Mass Air Flow sensor, part number PHF000140 on Tuesday and have now put about 500 miles on my 3.

Prior to the install, I was getting an engine check light every 20 miles or so after having repeatedly cancelled the DTC codes via my Scangauge II. The codes displayed were P0171 and P0174, both called up as a fuel lean.

P0171 and P0174 - OBD-II Trouble Codes

So far, no more MIL light activation so I keep my fingers crossed.

I did not try to clean my existing MAF as it is the original plus the more I read about cleaning them, the less certain I am that they survive the cleaning process regardless of what one uses as a cleaner.
