Default Car Key Help!

Hello I'm new to the forums and all so please bear with me on this post,

Recent i have purchase a 2005 LR3 and when getting home I came to the realization that the key doesn't work to unlocking the car.
There were marks on the top of the door that made it seem that someone tried to break into the car so I didn't really think much of it but, I now think its because the person i purchased it from was unable to enter his own vehicle.
What seems to happen is that the keys can lock the singular driver's door manually but all the other doors remain unlock. When inside using the central locking switch both unlocks and locks the doors with zero problems.
When trying to unlock the door manually nothing happens at all.
We tried opening up the interior side of the door and watch to see if it was a electrical issue with the locks but, it worked as if nothing was wrong. After that we tried manually locking and unlocking the door it locked fine as we watch the black cable get pulled but when trying to unlock nothing happened at all
I don't know if its important to mention that the lock wasn't "resisting" in any way when turning the key all was smooth and done without force.

Right now we are waiting on a new battery for the remote to see if we are able to open and close remotely

Aside from that we are stuck on what we can do and have to leave the car unlocked overnight.

If anyone knows a fix or something please help D:

Sounds like you have a inop door lock assembly on the drivers side and a keyless remote issue. Where are you located?

If it was me I would:

- confirm the remote puts out a signal with an RF signal tester

- if there is a signal I would look to repair the wire splice in passenger side door sill.

- no signal, change battery/repair remote.

- then tackle the driver door lock assemvly.

Videos of your free spinning lock would help.

I asked your location as I was thinking I could help, but I’m in n southern CA.

If you have 2 remotes you can send one to me for repair.

Sadly I only received one with the car but we replaced the battery already. I did what you told me about the splice and it worked, thank you so much. When we tackled the manual lock though we were stuck because we were unable to open up the door to reach the mechinism are there any tips or tricks in taking these apart? Also one of the window clips we saw was broken through the middle when we started to go in, should we replace them? Thank you!

Not sure which clip, but yes, replace all broken parts.

Door, hmmm. I believe the handle is sonic welded into the door panel, but you could try removing the inner handle assembly.

Also if the seat is moved all the way back the door panel might come off, or you might have to remove the seat.

Not a fun problem to have. Good luck
