Default Mystery tube in engine bay?

Hello!

I've been doing some preventative maintenance on my 2007 LR3 HSE.

While in the engine bay, I came across this hose that lays along the left side of the engine bay. Does anyone know what this tube is for? I was thinking maybe a breather tube of some sort but haven't traced it to the source yet but the end isn't connected to anything. Should it be?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Looks like the battery vent tube.

Thanks for responding Ryan. I didn't even know that was a thing! That makes sense though.
