I changed my oil in my 2008 LR3 (137k miles) and while removing the skid plate I noticed some oily residue on the front driver side. After close inspection it appeared to be tan/brown colored and was all over the trans cooler pipes hoses, side of the radiator, and into the wheel well (suspension components are unwitting bystanders). Based on my observations it really looks like it's coming from the top trans cooler pipe where it connects to the plastic nipple in the side of the radiator. Although the clamp appeared to be tight, I gave the screw a few more turns and cleaned all the oil off all the car parts as best I could. I've left off the skid plates plastic guards to monitor for any puddles. There were not any puddles prior to this, I suspect I caught the leak soon enough or it's a small enough leak that it hadn't made its way past the skid plate and on to the ground.
Has anyone else ever experienced a trans cooler pipe leak? Top of radiator. view from underside of vehicle
