There is reference to Lifetime re the ZF tranny but that was based on a four year lease - lifetime of the lease.
Below is a link to a number of files related to our ZF 6HP26. Many of the files have over a thousand views and I note one has over five thousand so something must be right.
I change the oil in my ZF about every 80,000 km / 50,000 miles. I now have 400,000+km on my 3 and so far other than oil and filters, nothing has been done to my tranny.

Default Key fob door security system vs Engine Start security

Below is link to a LR file that explains how the key fob and door lock system works. Except for some commonality re the printed circuit board within the key fob, the engine start security is independent of the door lock system.

The attached doc explains what might be called the transponder system related to engine start - that is communication between the Engine Computer and the non powered chip located within the key fob.

As to charging of the battery located within the keyfob, a dead keyfob can be taped to a good one and the dead one will charge while driving around. I think the dead one can also be charged just by driving with it as the engine start is independent of the state of charge of the battery.

Bought a 17ft caravan 2 weeks ago so that led the drive to fit a brake controller and build a pulse buster to stop the LED lights on the van from flickering, took the opportunity to run power from the main battery to the LH rear storage pocket to power the compressor i mounted in there last year. Also had to run power cables to the battery for the brake controller and 2 wires to the LH tail light area for harness connection.
Found some soggy carpet on the passenger side while in there so my sunroof drain is still blocked so better get onto that before winter.

Default might be the Air Conditioner drain hoses

This link has a good video attached on post #10 re the air conditioner drain hose/s. A hose can plug or disconnect and dumps water into your carpet. The water can be either rain water entering thru the cowl or condensation related to the operation of the air conditioner.
https://www.landroverworld.org/threa...4/#post-187968

There are two drains, one on each side of the transmission hump per my D3 link. The related AC drain hose file is towards the bottom of the link. Once you open the link, scroll down near the middle to bottom of the album to two files that I have there specific to the AC drain tubes - there are jpg's and line drawings as well as written instructions.
In brief, the heater cowling has two nipple drains. A r

ectangular rubber hose slides over each of the nipples. One hose is located on each side of the transmission tunnel. Either one or both of the hoses has pulled off the respective nipples and now the water, (both AC water and rain water from outside), is draining under the carpet rather than down thru the hoses thru the metal floor boards to below. If by some chance the hoses were plugged, access them from where they slide over the nipples and push a wire thru, but I expect the hose(s) are just disconnected.

The hoses are left and right of the radio stack; the two files show where and how to get at them - fairly easy and not necessary to remove the centre console or anything difficult - more the vertical bits to the left and right of the upper transmission tunnel. Once exposed, just slide the hose ends back on the respective nipples. The sliding off thing is common and is I assume a cold hot expansion thing.

If you really want to look for the hoses from underneath, I think the drains are hidden by skid plates, hence from the top is probably easier.
That is why you rarely see AC water under the truck. The rear heater/AC water hose drains onto the top of the left muffler - no water drips either at the back.

Definitely coming from the sunroof on the passenger side ( left side) i confirmed it was blocked over a month ago but thought i had unblocked it by running line trimmer line down it and partially removing the arch liner to get my hand in to the drain exit.
The exit piece didnt have the usual X fitting so i can only assume it has been replaced by the PO, i poked a stick in there and water dribbled out so i thought i had fixed it.
Evidence of water on the outside of the A pillar trim fabric so the channel is filling and has no where to go but over the side and into the interior, got it all dried out so i just need to make sure i unblock the drain properly and confirm its draining properly first.

Smile side mirror replacement

Total LR3 noob over here. Got mine about a month ago. I switched out the damaged passenger side mirror today for a good condition used one. That was interesting, all the youtube videos on side mirror replacement fail to mention what do when the door lock mechanism comes undone. Basically had to teach myself how the mechanism works in real time. Got everything back together and maybe lost a bolt or two into the door panel from aging plastic failing (the plastic piece underneath the logo on the door). But all good. Gave me a very good sense of accomplishment. Thinking about adding a multimedia receiver and backup camera next.
