It looks very aggressive!

 

This doesn't TECHNICALLY qualify as what I did to my LR3 "Today", but it was completed this past Sunday. Plastidipped the 19" 6 Spokes that came with the vehicle. I've been in talks with a seller for 18" 10 Spokes but he backed out last minute, so I figured I'd try my hand at a cosmetic change until I saved up enough for other options. Very happy with the results.

Updated Nav system. Purchase from a forum member in the Netherlands for $37. Went from 2004 data to around 2014.

Have owned 2006 LR3 for about a month and have followed a lot of advice from those of you "LR3 veterans". In the month I have owned I have named it "Dinger" due to the many alerts over the first 2-3 weeks of ownership. Purchased the 4DCAN system from RSW Solutions which has been incredibly useful for an extremely reasonable price. Have cleaned the K&N filter that came with the vehicle, along with the MAF and the throttle body. Tightened up the rear door strut upper screw (passenger side) which was on its last threads but still in ok shape, fixed the driver side sunroof drain which saturated my carpet. Also switched out the bonnet switch due to spurious alarms (that definitely fixes this problem).

It is funny how much I enjoy this vehicle...going 4-wheeling in two weeks with a group of people who have purchased from the same independent dealer. They go out twice a year.

Oh, also purchased a couple of brake switches in anticipation for failure based on multiple forum comments.

 

You will enjoy it even more once you get it off pavement!

 

...did a little camping in the Tillamook State Forest (in Oregon) with the family and some friends. Hit my favorite trails while I was there. The pictures are from Hog's Back, a trail that starts out as a Black Diamond ("Most Difficult") hill climb with large rocks and gaping holes that can swallow your car up if you don't know the line. Luckily I do...and the LR3 walked up with ease.

 

Just changed my engine oil and both diffs. under 2 hours including clean up slight rumbling when veering right, rumbling goes away when turning steering wheel left, think its time to change a wheel hub soon, doh!

 

Well, not today, but over the last few weeks I added some grip tape to my sliders after I slipped off of them and almost dislocated my shoulder. I also got some new shoes at a fantastic price from Costco. I think my local warehouse had a pricing mistake, so I ended up getting 5 275/65r18 BFG KO2s mounted and balanced for just over $900!! So, then I finally decided to plasti-dip my wheels also and reroute the rear coolant hoses. Decided on anthracite gray for the wheels because I thought black was a little too dark. Oh, and I painted the recovery points.

 

I like the yellow; I might just do the same on mine. I do keep them both hidden but the yellow does look appropriate.

I presume that you can get at the front recovery point to attach something to it?

I ask as I had to purchase what I called a not so normal clevis regarding the rear recovery point. For me, the opening on the I think it was a 3/4" one that I purchased was just a bit tight and the next larger size was well, cumbersome. I found a slightly different clevis in a farm store that fit better.

I presume you have checked however.

 

I haven't had any problems accessing the front recovery point and getting a 3/4" d-ring shackle around it. However, I always carry a soft shackle with me as well because they just seem so darn useful. Both types of shackles have their advantages... You don't need to worry about wear and tear with a D-ring shackle and you can use it around rough surfaces. However, you can fit a soft shackle around almost anything , so it's much more flexible.
