Geez guys !! I don't know if you unlucky or what but I am still on my original alternator at 243 000 miles. One thing I make sure of is nothing is really blasting at start up, meaning no headlights on Auto, no loud radio, heat, etc..
I definitely treat my Rover like it suppose to, daily driving and off roading as well. Oh..I am also only on the second air compressor. Preventive maintain is the key here.

I was feeling froggy today so I pulled the LR3 in for a addition of a gas tank skid plate. One of the reasons i wanted to add this you will be able to notice in the pics the other is my habit of smacking the underside of the truck on things off road.
So I pulled the old girl in the garage.
I prepared myself for the rusty bolts and mud that lie ahead. So I made sure to start off right by snapping off the first bolt I came to.
1 other followed suite a little later. More fun for reassembly I guess Good thing its a rust free truck
So some cussing later.
I unearthed this from an archaeological dig I think
Think there might be some rust damage....
So here is the new to me skid plate. Key thing to remember here is that this is in addition to the original piece not a replacement.

So with the old out it was time for clean up and paint.
So while the paint dried I got after the snapped off bolts
Much cussing later all was well and ready to go back together.
The thing to keep in mind here is you don't actually have to pull the factory mount/skid thing. I did as mine was in really rough shape and full of mud. so I figured I could clean it up as best I could. I didn't realize it was as bad as it was though admittedly.
Got it back in and realize I had a problem.
The gap was massive.
It took me awhile of wondering what I missed or did wrong to put it together. There was a random hole in the skid plate and a blind hole with an access square in the frame. So I needed something like this to feed up through the square and hold the nut in place while I tightened it together.
