Just wondering if anyone knows how to find this module on a 2022 Discovery.

Separately, I see an “auto start/stop” fuse listed for the engine compartment fuse box. Has anyone pulled this to see what happens? I’m wondering if it solves the problem or the car refuses to start at all.

Thanks!!

open the small compartment on the right side of the trunk , where the jack is stored and find the connectors on the bottom and disconnect the small back plug.
please test it and confirm here.

Thanks for the writeup I successfully disconnected the plug on my 2017 Discovery HSE TD6. Super easy with no other issues. Start stop is terrible for your engine and even worse for a diesel.

This post should be pinned. I never dreamed just a simple disconnect would solve the problem.

Hi! I’m trying to replace this part on my 2021 P369 engine. However it’s not fitted on the same place as the previous years. Any idea where it could be fitted?

Weirdly, on my old 2017 HSE Lux Si6, the auto/stop start just quit working on its own and I was not complaining about it lol. I recently had my new Defender programmed to remember the last auto stop/start cycle. So if it was turned off, it will remember and stay off.

If the feature is so damaging to engines, I wonder why more and more manufacturers are installing it. Our local GMC dealer was advertising it like crazy on the new cars they were selling. I guess we can never guess the the odd workings of the car designers mind!
It's because the engines are designed to work with it. Just like ac compressors are designed to cycle on and off, so are the starters in these vehichles. All the alarm bells people are raising are based on older engine truths, not what is actually the case now. Personally, I don't like the auto on-off. But where I live and drive it almost never activates anyway.

It's a no-brainer that the auto stop-start function increases wear and tear on starters, and also on engines due to intermittent brief interruptions to engine bearing oil flow. The only reason for this feature was so manufacturers could achieve Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) requirements. What's best for vehicle operation and longevity is not the highest priority for vehicle manufacturers or dealers, which is why my dealer service advisor said that the transmission fluid in my D5 Td6 should never be changed. ZF recommends 50,000 miles/80,000 km but I'll be changing it myself at 60,000 miles, when I do my next 7500-mile oil change.
