I tried disconnecting the connector from the VQM today. On about a 40 mile roundtrip, it never auto-stopped. What's strange is my dash did not display the crossed out A in a circle that used to display when I pressed the console switch to turn auto stop off. (2017 D5 Si6). I did not notice if it lit up when it should have auto-stopped. I'll keep my eye on it next time. I did not try pressing that console switch to see what would happen. Maybe next time.

Tested today. The crossed out A in a circle did not illuminate when pressing on the brake while stopped where it would have before pulling the VQM connector nor did it illuminate when I pressed the console switch. When I pressed the console switch the display did momentarily show “Auto Stop On” or “Auto Stop Off” And the console switch illuminated when on.

Thank you all for the detailed follow up. Great read. Never guessed my service advisors comments would promote such action among the group. That’s what I love about forums. Problem solvers for sure. I hope our brilliant Doctors, chemists, and other professionals and laymen with complicated titles help us all figure out this Covid mess so we can all get back to work and our daily lives. Bravo!

Did it on ours today.
No warning lights or any A symbol on the IP. The auto stop sart button still shows up as turning on and off, but does nothing. It just has a brief message on the IP. Basically seems the function just disappears, which is great.

I looked up the wiring diagram of the VQM. It is easy to see that if you unplug the control wires the relay simply stays in the closed position for the battery positive side to feed to the junction. If the VQM is enabled it opens the relay and connects to the DC-DC converter (Boost mode).

So, just to confirm....

We just need to pull the signal plug on the VQM and we're good?

Yes, that's all I did to make it stop auto-stopping.
But I've only done it recently so I can't guarantee long term results myself.

I disconnected the above connector 2 weeks ago, works great; I've only had the car for 3 weeks so unfortunately, I might not know if I'm missing something

The only things I need to verify that it's still operational is the hill decent, and off-road modes and cruise control.

Hill descent turns green on the speedo up to 20 mph, the Off-Road modes look like they work (display reports correctly as the **** rotates) and Cruise Control works. BTW, 2018 Disco
